Tashkent Metro

Every station is a different room: marble, chandeliers, mosaics, and stories beneath the city. The Tashkent Metro is one of the most ornate subway systems in the world, built as a subterranean palace for the people during the Soviet era. Highlights include Kosmonavtlar (dedicated to cosmonauts) and Alisher Navoi (with beautiful mosque-like domes).

Tip: Photography is now allowed inside the stations.
